Realizations
Here it is midnight-thirty. I have just had my epiphany. Everything is so clear. I am the grown-up. Not just an adult. A GROWN-UP. So many things pointed me that way. The fact that I couldn't drink my body weight in booze anymore. Heck, two fingers of brandy makes me sleepy. That's a clue. The fact that I say to my sons "Because I said so" and feel perfectly okay about it. Yeah, another tip. But, the thing that made me really see it... I am mourning the loss of a beloved cheese grater. The plastic frame long ago broke away, leaving just one stalwart blue piece on the end. I told myself "one more burrito. Its good for one more quesidia." One more is past. It has shredded its last bit of Tilamook Colby Jack. It has presided over its last "taco salad night buffet". Now I have to replace it, my beloved shredder that has been with me for so many years. Being a grown up sucks.

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! how am i supposed to use it for thanks giving
Don't worry. Your beloved grater isn't in the landfill where the bad ones go. It's up in grater heaven.
Being a grown up does suck, but sometimes it does have its perks, like....ummmm...
I'll let you know when I think of some :-)
I'm sure the quesadillas will understand. Just tell them the grater went to that great cheeseball in the sky.
let us all bow our heads in silence for the poor grater that gave it's life in the line of duty.
It's always the little things that make you sit up and take notice of your adulthood, isn't it...
R.I.P. Cheese grater!
God bless you, cheese grater. Even though we never met, I'll still think of you fondly the next time I order a #4 Value Meal at Taco Bell.
I'll assume you had a proper wake and burial. Who did the eulogy? And why wasn't I alerted? I could've said a few nice words.
Give yourself proper time to mourn. Tragic, it is. Don't rush into another relationship too soon. GIve yourself time. Don't jump at the first grater you see.
And remember, there are grievance counselors out there just waiting to help you. ;0P
You? A Grown-Up?! isn't that one of the signs of the Apocalypse? ;)
