duck in a truck

This fall it will be time to start the driving lessons. I am so glad that bit of parenting falls to his father... I am old and have a weak heart; actually, as his mother I am incapable of teaching him to drive. I know he will be an excellent driver, but have you SEEN the other people driving in Oregon.

Now, we await that first report card and if it's good enough... well, He will be on the road! The truck looks good on him.

play play play!

We do more than play at the park and swim in the river, i just can't think what else the more is.

We are loving summer time! The river is wonderful, the park shaded by large old trees. We have kids running hither and yon. I love being a mom at this time of year, when the days stretch out before as as an endless adventure. It's these days i will cherish in memory all my life.

Ring of Fire

SO, there is a lot going on, but i had to take a moment to share this with you all...

Now, he is just 2, and he does get ring of fire and Folsom prison blues confused, and he does have the microphone jammed all the way down his throat, but how cute is this!?!

this is a really really long post... beware!

We are pleased to be able to follow up on the brief move notice with a legnthier update:
Here Goes:
We are loving the new place. Sure, it is still filled with boxes, but most of them are stuffed into closets to be gone through at my leisure. the new place is much bigger than the old one. We moved up from a two bedroom one bath apartment to a three bedroom bath and a half townhouse style duplex.

Living room ---> Flowing into the kitchen --->On into the "computer room" or den area (this picture isnt the best) --->

then up the staircase (the painting there was done by my mother years ago of Harry Truman and Mt St Helens as she began to blow... it's called the man of the mountain) --->the upper hall way holds four doors... three bedrooms and a bathroom --->

my room is covered in boxes and "the girl" doesnt share her room, but Indy's is at the end of the hall over-looking the park! --->

So, anyways, i love it. Have i said that yet?

On to other things: Indy really enjoys the park across the street and we spend a very large part of our time there... Yesterday the city parks department even held an art in the park event for the kids to draw and do crafts! Today his grandmother (the mother in law) came by with her dog. The other day as we moved in, even Brother Duck got into the park. I am so happy to see us in such a better place. For us, for Indy, and just in general!

So, i gladly return to the "blog-o-sphere" and hope to see all of my blog world buddies soon!

the annual visit

Once per year or so my friend David comes to the valley for a day long visit. This year he taught Indy to climb a tree. OK, he set him in it and let me take pictures, but its all the same.

We are busily taking classes to become certified as foster parents. And of course there is the mess with trying to get moved, which isn't even started but is started. I guess that means mostly that my house is full of boxes, some packed some not, and we still don't know when we get to move in. grrrr. Oh, and i reduced my work hours because i had 28 hours of crap to do every day and most of you know that in a 24 hour day, that sucks.

Otherwise, all is well!

support the arts!

Grandma Tooti purchased this sweet art easel for Indy.
Indy loves to draw, color, and write.
This made the perfect gift!
Sometimes, however, art just cannot be contained to an easel!

A day Out...

Sometimes, a sultry summer afternoon cries out for the river. Today was one of those days! We all climbed into the truck and headed for McCercher Park Click here to peek at the falls The water is clear and shallow and runs nicely over some rocks, in shade and in sun, it is the perfect out of the way spot to picnic.
Indiana loved the water, as did Nicole.
We will be returning there tomorrow with some friends, and Brother Duck as well! So, tomorrow there will be lots of pictures of our outing. Stay tuned for the further summer adventures!!

the HEAT is on!

Summer is a great time to be a kid! You can spin in the grass, chasing your shadow until you fall down in a heap! You can relax and draw pictures on a bench, in the shade, with friends. You can wash the truck, and its still fun because you get to squirt your buddies with water. As the day wanes, the heat cools, you can sit around with your pals and just be a kid.

Do you like Indiana's haircut?
