You Light Up My Life

We went and checked out some Christmas lights. Indiana oohed and ahhed in the appropriate places as he gazed out the window of the van. There is a Pepsi cola plant in Corvallis Oregon... Home of the Oregon State University Beavers! (about 15 minute drive from our home) that does a great drive thru display, including the redneck Santa.

There is a private home on Peoria rd (also out near Corvallis) which is lit up amazingly. The home has a private horseshoe driveway which you can use to drive thru their display (they encourage it, with entrance and exit signs on their fence, and candy canes at the end!).

We capped our visit to the lights off with a swing by my moms! I helped her set things up, but really she does it all herself.

None of these pictures really do justice to the joy we shared with Indiana as he viewed Christmas lights for the very first time, His dad, his aunt, his grandma donkey, and me.

I love the display at your Mom's..it is MAGNIFICENT!!! How long does it take her to do this? It must be weeks and weeks and weeks....! But it is truly glorious! So glad you got a good photo of that...will you take more??? I hope! (lol)

Wow, we mostly don't go in for big residential displays over here in the UK, just a few individuals do it.

Films always show every house in the US covered in lights, but I guess that's probably not the reality:-)

I have a huge amount of respect for people who put so much of themselves into their Christmas displays. These pictures - and the stories you tell around them - are just great.

Great job on the photography, too. This is a very hard scenario to capture effectively, and you've done an exquisite job.

Wow, we don't have ANYTHING like that around here. New England is more candles in the window and little white lights round the doorway, tops.

I just love the holiday lights. When I lived in West Virginia, people would go completely overboard. Now that I live in NYC, I just love to walk around the city and check out the lights and store windows! Have a great weekend. Michele sent me!

I like that Ford tractor a helluva lot better than I like Rudolph, the wet-fart reinbeer. Nice Peoria pix, Ms. Albany. And happy ogling for years to come, Indy.

I love over-the-top outdoor Christmas decor. The more the better, as far as I'm concerned. (Here via Michele) BTW, Indy is one CUTE kid!

It is a pity it never gets dark here until after nine in summer and of course Christmas is summer here.
Only very few decorate outside.

Mindi, We are going tonight to the Pepsi display and the house on peoria road. You know Jengibre can't miss the lights display and the free candy cane. You should have gotten a picture with Indy's face looking at the light displays for the first time. I would have like to see that! I always get a picture of Jen hanging out the window, ha, ha! And you should have told the story of the day you helped me put up our light display! What a ---- of a day it was!

Indy, Chris and Mindi;
How did you like all of those beautiful lights?? They are sure eye catching and warm you to your soul! What a wonderful feeling to see all the colors shining ever so brightly in the darkness of night. We put up red and green icycles this year; but what makes them really beautiful is the fact that there are tons of real icycles hanging over them(they do not touch) So, the colors shine through the real ones. A touch of mother nature! What a gift for Christmas! Our hats are off to all of those people who still put up lights and other decorations. It honors and celebrates Christ's life!!!!!!!
