So Much for my Tidy Home

Has anyone else noticed that children seem to be messy? This one has taken over a spot in my living room, he will sit and pull EVERYTHING out of the box, then look at me like its my fault the box is empty. He isn't happy until everything is back in the box, at which time he promptly empties it back out, strewing "objects de foot killers" across our living room. For some reason the only ones he really "strews" are the ones that will be painful when stepped on. I think it is an inborn sense in some children; well, at least in my children it is.

Kids being messy is a law of the universe, so Indy is quite normal.

Hi Indy;
It looks like you are having a ball! Wish we were there to get down on the floor and play with you!!

the bigger the mess the bigger the joy! mine are the same way. drives me nuts sometimes! and yeah, what's up with only leaving the tiny painful ones in the walkway?

You're not alone. We've learned to accept the fact that our home will be messy until our last child moves out. I'm OK with that.

When I walk into my parents' and in-laws' now-empty-of-children homes, I think that they look so bare. A little chaos is a good thing.

Oh, that is NOTHING! It is amateur compared to what my children can do to a room. My guys would have that box dumped, dispersed and destroyed in 12.8 seconds. On a slow day.

Indy is just gorgeous!

Guess you probably don't want to hear that it doesn't improve at all as kids get older. Instead of toys strewn about, you get books, backpacks, jackets, shoes, socks, etc. And they're a lot less impressionable when you start singing the "Clean up" song from Barney.

it gets especially exasperating if you throw in pets too. i don't have kids yet but my dogs can't seem to get enough of the stuff on the tree. they keep nipping off lights and decorations, we keep finding some odd decor or another in mangled desrepair!

OH! LET ME TELL YOU! My girls had a big big box ( a big toilet paper box from the grocery) just filled with toys. They had a great time throwing all the toys out of the box while standing inside the box. And when they emptied it, THEY PLAYED WITH THE BOX... forget all the toys that where IN IT!
