this and that update:

So much to do, so little time to blog!

  1. We went to the annual art and air show, visiting Night Glow and also the early morning lift off of the hot air balloons.
  2. We went to the family back to school swim night sponsored by the neighborhood partnership.
  3. We have had a little girl visiting with us, Coleta. She returns to her own home today. We will miss her!
  4. Duck got all registered as a high school student. He starts his freshman (9th grade) year in just a few weeks.
  5. Indiana went to the state fair with his brother and the family.
  6. I got a new digital camera!
  7. Indy's aunt moo went into the hosiptal for surgery nearly a week ago, she gets operated on tomorrow.
  8. we got enrolled in the FHIAP program!
  9. my brother's tavern had its grand opening!
All since my last blog entry!

So, with all of these things, and more stuff coming up... like two seperate old high school friends of my husbands coming to visit us next month (one is staying in the spare room for a week) and school beginning, and me trying to pick up a new client, life is just hopping! I still don't even have us all the way unpacked.

Hummingbird season

My mom got this picture of a hummingbird in her back yard.
Look at the great green in her wings! She's a little cutie.
The hummingbirds have been coming in for a few weeks now.
In fact, we are heading over there now to:
feed some birds,
chase some cats,
gaze into the pond seeking fish,
smell some flowers,
search out some late blooming strawberries,
pick an apple,
maybe go "wee" on the swing with grandpa.
It is always an adventure when we go to grandmas.

comcast and safety

The "Comcast Internet Tech" fellow came out and "upgraded" out IE to 6.0! Of course we had been using IE 7.0 before he fiddled with it. This meant that we couldn't do several thing we ordinarily did, such as blog, since blogger doesn't recognize such an old version of IE.

So, since i couldn't be in here on the computer i had to join into the neighborhood. That isn't so hard to do when we have such great things going on! We had the 7Th annual health and safety fair in Burkhart park! The local police, fire, and search and rescue folks were all on scene, as well as the YMCA. these groups gave away bicycle helmets, gave rides in one of the search vehicles, showed off the firetrucks, had face painting, and even one of those inflatable bouncer things was set up!

We are so happy to have moved to this neighborhood. We are getting involved with neighborhood events, like this one (we went over early and helped set up tables and blow up balloons). We are even getting involved in helping to reform the neighborhood watch. Indiana is learning his new territory, and although he still says "Indy go home" when we pass the old place, I think he is starting to "get it".

Herman's Hermits

Our fair town does a wonderful weekly free concert in the part all summer long. We call it River Rhythms, and it is held down in Monteith Park along the river. The last time i bestirred myself to go was for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy a few years ago. I love swing music. So, yesterday, Macy and Duck take Indy and I and Coletta up to the swimming pool in Salem. While we are there she says "hey we should go to river rhythms it's Herman's Hermits tonight!" So, we spend the next three hours trying to remember Peter Noone's name. We had a ball. While we were there, i saw the big fire truck and ambulance parked off to the side and decided to take some pictures of Indy with them. We were so fortunate that there was an awesome paramedic lurking about and he showed us all his gear and let Indy climb in (front and back) and was just a load of fun. During Intermission we met Elvis. He is looking good for being "gone" 30 years now. Elvis sat so close to the stage that Peter talked to him through-out the show. It really was a riot. So, toward the end of the show, i took a candid shot of a few of us. Just to prove we had fun. I should have photo-shopped the picture for the red eye etc, but I'm too lazy and tired (since i didn't get to bed until awfully early this morning) so this will have to do!Cheers!

confusious say:

There is this old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times." Now, yesterday, I seem to recall saying "I hope something of interest will happen soon". Not twenty minutes after i wrote that the door bell chimes over and over and company arrives!

May you live in interesting times:

Duck arrived with Barbosa to spend the day hanging out and doing nothing. That is indeed what we did. We sat at the park and played cards and sent John out for chicken, and Macy out for McDonald's and had a most excellent day enjoying the weather and each others company.

nada

We are still here! Just nothing really exciting to say,
and not really any new pictures to show off.
Hopefully something of interest will happen soon.

Barbossa

As many of you are aware, Michael Vick, the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons (now suspended), was indicted a few weeks ago for fighting pit bulls . There were other charges as well for neglect, cruelty, and inhumane killings of the animals.

I can not imagine why anyone would want to treat any animal like this.

Although Indiana does not have any pets (due to apartment restrictions), Duck has several. He has a pony, three dogs, a few cats, and several stray "whatevers" that wander his way. One of the dogs they do have is this beautiful pit bull puppy. Doesn't he look dangerous? No? He doesn't look dangerous because... HE IS NOT DANGEROUS. He is a puppy, who is loved and cosseted and overfed, like the rest of the pets (and people) in the family. How could anyone hurt a puppy like 'Bosa?

What is wrong with people?

what would you do?

so, there is an open casting call being done by some scouting folks... i don't know much about this kind of thing... anyways... several of our neighbors (both the old ones and new ones) are shouting it to us.

Now, ya'll who have been visiting us for some time know what Indy looks like. He is sort of a cutie. Duck, isn't bad either (this is his 8th grade school photo). So, it is established that both of my kids are pretty cute. (yeah i know... every crow thinks his own is the blackest... i just happen to be right)

Now this casting call thing is just a scouting group... its in a town about 30 minutes away from us. There will probably be a whole lot of kids there (its open to 3mo-17yrs)...

so anyways, would you take your kids (even if they weren't as cute as mine)?
